❓ What motivated you to pursue a career in the iGaming industry, and what are your thoughts on the field nowadays?

💬 It may sound funny, but it was a mix of sunny Malta and rainy London. When I first arrived in Malta, I was amazed by the climate, the stunning views, the sea, the nightlife, and how vibrant the place was — especially the size of the iGaming community. Since then, I’ve been steering my life to be able to visit the island as often as possible.

London, on the other hand, was all about the ICE gaming shows. Booking my first trip to London in 2010 and visiting ICE was definitely the most significant event in my career. All those glamorous stands, friendly people, exciting entertainment, and the positive energy around didn’t just strengthen my passion for the industry — they helped me build relationships that later turned into new business opportunities.

A lot has changed since then. Technology has advanced, solving many of the issues we used to face. We no longer use Flash, the internet is super fast and accessible, and we have AI to support us with many tasks. At the same time, players have shifted to small vertical screens, many markets are heavily regulated, and the competition is tougher than ever. All of this forces us to be more innovative and creative, which makes the day-to-day job much more enjoyable and exciting.

❓ How do you remain focused and motivated, considering how fast-paced the iGaming industry is?

💬 Constantly changing workstreams and the need to keep up with new trends force me to learn continuously and stay alert. This really boosts my motivation and focus. Of course, working with energetic people who love their jobs and are genuinely passionate about the industry helps a lot.

It’s true that the daily workload and responsibilities can be overwhelming, but I’m fortunate to work with a team of professionals with whom I can share this load. Thanks to my team, I’m able to focus on the bigger picture and strategic planning.

❓ Favourite memory in your career thus far?

💬 I’ve mentioned before that my first ICE (in 2010) was the most significant event in my career. I remember walking around the stands, telling myself that someday I’d be standing on one of them. That dream came true four years later when I started working for one of the top providers and attending trade shows.

Even though working at the shows was demanding and exhausting, it was a pleasure because our content was top-notch, clients loved it, and I was genuinely proud of the product we represented. What’s more, after the shows, we always had an amazing time bonding as a team. Many of the relationships I built back then have lasted to this day — I even feel blessed to call some of those people my friends now.

These memories inspire me in two ways. First, to always do my best at work so I can proudly represent the product and the company who I work for. Second, to be the kind of leader who creates an environment where my team can bond just like I had the chance to.

❓ Advice for people looking to pursue a career similar to yours?

💬 One of my favorite quotes, attributed to Seneca, says: “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” Never stop learning and improving your skills. Constantly push yourself out of your comfort zone and challenge your mind. iGaming is a small world where everyone knows each other, and word of mouth is powerful. Always be professional, do your best, and stay organized — it will pay off eventually. Your colleagues, managers, and others you’ve worked with will remember that.

And most importantly — kindness is always appreciated.

❓ Tell us something about Marek that we don’t know. Favourite hobbies, foods, music and so on?

💬 There are so many, but I’ll stick to two. I’m a huge petrolhead and love spending time in the garage, working on my project cars while listening to true crime podcasts. I also combine this hobby with another passion of mine — 3D printing and design. I’ve designed dozens of custom parts, whether for cars, motorcycles, or practical household items. I like to think that the savings I’ve made by fixing things around the house are getting close to covering the cost of buying the printers—or at least that’s what I tell my wife.
